Shiradi Ghat will open by July 1: DC

Belthangady: The Shiradi Ghat road on the stretch of National Highway 75 will be thrown open for vehicular movement by July 1.

Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil informed that the administration will also focus on Charmadi Ghat development. “Already we have completed the survey work and have prepared an action plan. The report will be sent to Union government”, he said.

Meanwhile, the vehicular movement on Charmadi Ghat have resumed, after it was blocked due to a landslide following heavy rains. Heavy vehicles will be allowed to use the route from June 16. The DC also informed that he had formed teams to keep vigil in the area. These teams will act during the uncertain conditions or emergencies in the Ghat.

MLA Harish Poonja also said that if the road work of Shishila-Byrapura and Didupe- Yeleneeru- Samse had been done, the density of traffic in Charmadi Ghat would have been less. People residing in Yeleneeru have to travel 125 kilometers to gram panchayath.
