Mangaluru: The residents of Magenamane, Kulshekar are faced with a terrible predicament. Due to the poor sewage system in the locality, the sewage water has seeped into the nearby wells and has contaminated the water, rendering it unusable.
Many people living here have wells and rely on them for water for drinking and other household purposes. The contamination of the water has left the residents helpless and in need of a quick and effective solution.
Speaking to newskarnataka.com, Mahalinga, a resident of Meginamane, said, “Due to the poor sewage system and the substandard work, the dirty water has seeped into the wells. Now the well water has become contaminated and we can no longer use it.”
Prajwal, another resident of the area, also complained that the residents had approached the local corporator, but no action had been taken. “Sometimes the water stinks and we cannot use the well water”, he added.
Speaking to newskarnataka.com, Corporator K Zubaida said, “The issue has come to my notice and I have informed the officials concerned at the MCC to sort out the problem. The issue will be resolved as soon as possible.”
On November 16, the residents of Anna Vista Apartment here in Kadri, faced a similar situation when the apartment building’s parking lot was flooded with sewage water.
