Serving others gives satisfaction

Mangaluru: Through service we can brighten and build many lives. We can also help children through our humanitarian service and also service opportunities always give us satisfaction, said M. Arun Shetty, Former District Governor, Lions Club Mangaluru.

He was speaking at the installation ceremony of new president and office bearers of Lions Club, Mangaluru District 317D at Lions Seva Mandir, Kadri here on Saturday July 10. He said, “we should have concern towards society and work towards development.” He wished that as a service organisation, the Lions Club continues its social service activities even more sincerely in the days to come.

In the installation ceremony held under the leadership of erstwhile President Krishnananda Pai, current President B. Satish Rai, Secretary Suprita G. Shetty, Treasurer Dennis Rodrigues and other officer bearers were sworn in.

Prashanth Kadaba, the erstwhile Secretary, and M. Sudhakar Shetty, the erstwhile treasurer felicitated the outgoing President Krishnananda Pai and his wife Kavitha Pai.

Distribution of financial aid:

At the programme, the financial aid was given to the District Dialysis Centre. Lion Umesh Prabhu handed over a cheque of Rs.10000 to the head of the centre, PDG K. C. Prabhu.

Lion Richard Lobo and Alice Lobo distributed food to the children of 25 poor and economically disadvantaged families of Saripalla and Kulshekar. This apart, the couple also paid deserving students Rs. 60000 as financial aid for their education.

Lion Nancy Mascarenhas distributed Rs 10000 to Clara Michael Fernandes, a economically disadvantaged student. The auto-rickshaw drivers were distributed plants and masks.

Lion Richard Lobo and Alice Lobo donated Rs. 10000 to Snehalaya Charitable Trust as an aid to facilitate food for the patients at We lock Hospital. A donation of Rs. 5000 was given to Leo Club. Lion Asif Mohammed and Lubna Asif donated Rs 9500 worth artificial limb to Satish Kumar Das.

Shiva Nayaka, who recently underwent heart surgery, was donated Rs 5000 by Lion Ravishankar Rai. Lion Sumana Venugopal Shenoy donated water purifier for clean drinking water to a school. Lion Joseph Menezes donated Rs 5000 worth 14 food kits to auto-rickshaw drivers. IPDG Lion Geethaprakash donated PPE kits and face shields for the benefit of Lions Club members.
