Mangaluru: The sea erosion at Someshwar,  Ucchila and nearby areas has continued on Wednesday, August 7 and the residents of the area are terrified.

The flight of stairs beside the Someshwar temple and the stairs connecting the temple from the beach side have been damaged due to sea erosion. In wake of the inclement weather, the fishing boats which ventured deep sea for fishing after the fishing ban ended on August 1 have been asked to return to the shore. Coast Guard here also directed their patrol vessels to shepherd the boats back to the shore.

Meanwhile, the Coast Guard appealed to fishermen not to venture into the sea. According to a communication from the Coast Guard Karnataka, headquartered at Mangaluru, high waves are forecast along the state coast. All the units of Coast Guard are ready to undertake search and rescue missions on short notice.
