Mangaluru: Recently, rumours have been doing the rounds that over 40 patients at AJ Hospital have tested positive for COVID-19. Rubbishing these rumours, Medical Director at the Hospital Dr Prashanth Marla informed that these are fake and baseless claims.

“The government releases its bulletin every day and this news is far from the truth,” he said.

It can be recalled that on Friday, a 68-year-old woman from Surathkal, who was being treated at the AJ Hospital, tested positive for COVID-19 and was transferred to the Wenlock Hospital as per protocol.

Dr Marla informed that, according to precautionary measures, 25 staff members who were managing the 68-year-old woman (Patient 1009) have been kept under observation. “They have not tested positive at all,” he said in a press release.

He added that the press release is being issued to take the fear off from people’s mind regarding hospitals and healthcare workers. “Just clapping, lighting lamp and ringing bells is not sufficient. Appreciate the efforts of COVID warriors and support them instead of defaming them,” he said
