Mangaluru: The Mangaluru Women Police arrested two persons for raping a minor girl on Friday, January 18.
The arrested have been identified as Nivesh (28), son of Venkatesh Poojary, a resident of Someshwar, Kotekar and Durgesh (25), son of Padmanabh, resident of Uday Nagar near KPT.
According to the sources, Sharan, a resident of Akash Bhavan, a rowdy sheeter, allegedly raped a minor girl a few days ago with the help Nivesh and Durgesh also helped. Later, they uploaded derogatory comments on the same girl on social media. A case was also registered against the accused under POCSO ( Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act.
According to the sources, the victim girl was getting trained under Sharan on Huli Vesha (tiger dance). But, Sharan allegedly misused the situation and confined the girl in a lodge for three days and raped her repeatedly with the help of Nivesh and Durgesh. When the incident came to light, Sharan fled and the victim girl was admitted to a hospital in the city. Based on the complaint, police detained both Nivesh and Durgesh. However, the key accused Sharan is yet to be arrested.
Sharan has several pending cases related to murder, attempt to murder, extortion among others. It is believed that Sharan is the aid of underworld element Vickey Shetty. Though Sharan was in jail, he was released on a bail recently.
