Mangaluru: A local Congress leader and social activist, was attacked by a rowdy sheeter of Jeppinamogaru at Bajal on the late night of Friday, on October 19.
The person who was attacked by the rowdy sheeter is John Suresh of Jeppinamogaru and the assailant Guruprasad of Jeppinamogaru. Sources in Kankanady Town Police Station informed that John Suresh is a civil contractor by profession. When he was on his way back home on his motorcycle, Guruprasad waylaid him and attacked him with a sharp weapon. When John screamed for help, Guru fled the scene. After escaping from the clutches of the rowdy sheeter, John managed to reach home. Immediately, he was shifted to a private hospital in the city, where he is recuperating, sources said
Police sources informed that the accused Guruprasad is a rowdy sheeter and he has several pending cases pertaining to murder, attempt to murder and extortion in various police stations.
The Kankanady Town Police have registered a case and are investigating.
