Rotary 3181 Riskonnect Donate Medical Equipment To Wenlock Hospital

Mangaluru: Healthcare facilities are one of the important things in demand during this pandemic time and especially in the Government-run hospital.

The requirement for crucial medical care items was a need of the hour at Government Wenlock Hospital at Mangaluru which caters to the medical needs of not just Dakshina Kannada but several other surrounding districts and the same was communicated to the Rotary District 3181 Governor Rtn Major Donor Ranganath Bhat. The DG guided and the Rotary Club of Mangalore Downtown swung into action under the leadership of Assistant Governor Zone 3 Rtn Ekanath Dandakeri and Club President Rtn. Rajesh Shetty.

Speaking to News Karnataka Rtn. Ranganath Bhat said that, “Wenlock’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Sadashiv, had provided us a list of all the hospitals’ requirements. RisKonnect, a company, stepped up to assist us and gave 18 lakh to the cause through their CSR activities. Together with this sum, the ten Rotary clubs in our zone raised a total of Rs. 21.57 lakh, which was used to purchase various items for the Wenlock hospital.”

 

An Online meeting was called where more clubs joined hands. When Rtn. Ekanath Dandakeri through his contact approached software giant RisKonnect who always stood by the people of this region in needs like these, assured their support and then this small idea turned out to be big support of Rs. 22 lakh worth of medical equipment donated to the hospital.

He went on to say that, “A dialysis machine was one among the important items we donated to the hospital, which was a desperate need because around 140 people need dialysis every day. One is also required in the Covid ward. Within a year, the Rotary Club of Mangaluru provided two dialysis machines to the hospital, and the Rotary Club of Mangaluru South donated one.”

Rotary Clubs of Mangalore Downtown, Mangalore Metro, Mangalore City, Mangalore South, Baikampady, Mangalore Hillside, Mangalore North, Mangalore Sunrise, Surathkal, Mangalore were part of this special initiative.

Portable X-ray machines, wheelchairs, consumables, and other items are among the other items. “Dr. Sudhakar and Dr. Ranjan who are working as Covid warriors at Wenlock hospital helped us to get the equipment which were needed,” he added.

The equipments were handed over to the hospital in the presence of Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K. V.

Speaking on the ocassion, DG Rtn. Ranganath Bhat expressed his happiness on supporting the cause in a big manner. He thanked RisKonnect and Rotary Clubs for their support.
