Mangaluru: The union government must restrain Karnataka from implementing the recommendations of the Kasturirangan Report, said former state minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment B Ramanath Rai on August 16.
Addressing a press meet here, Ramanath Rai said, “Union government should not implement the recommendations of the Kasturirangan Report, instead it should reject.”
“When I was the minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment, the government submitted three reports opposing the implementation of the Kasturirangan Report recommendations after the union government issued a draft notification to the state,” he added.
Rai also informed that he would hold a massive protest along with the people to oppose the implementations of the Kasturirangan Report recommendations.
“Those who oppose implementation of the Kasturirangan report should join this protest, irrespective of their political affiliations.”
U T Khader, State Minister for Urban Development and Housing said, “Today Chief Minister Kumaraswamy has called a meeting with the senior officials to discuss the provision of compensation to victims affected by heavy rains in the district.”
He also said that he had asked the deputy commissioner to provide assistance to Kerala’s Wayanad district after it was affected by a massive flood due to heavy rain.
