Mangaluru: MLA U T Khader has condemned the state government’s decision to reduce the quarantine period and urged that those who are coming from other states be mandatorily quarantined.

Addressing the reporters here on Monday, June 1, Khader said that as the district administration has reduced the quarantine period, a person from the Ullal constituency who arrived from another state tested positive recently. “This is why the particular area in Kapikad has now been declared as an active containment zone. If the district administration had allowed him to go out only after completing the full quarantine term, the people in the Kapikad area need not have had a reason to worry. The Government is committing a blunder by relaxing the lockdown and reducing the quarantine term.”

Khader also asked the government to send those who are coming from other states to compulsorily be quarantined. “It is not a good move by the government to withdraw some tests and reducing the quarantine time as it causes unnecessary tension among the other people,” he said.

“The Government has enforced a lockdown for nearly two and half months. Now, it has relaxed all the guidelines and is making way for the virus to spread. The Government is committing mistakes and should take the appropriate measures to stop the novel coronavirus from spreading,” Khader added.
