Mangaluru: Notorious underworld fugitive Rashid Malbari has been arrested in Abu Dhabi for the possession of Bangladesh passport, alleged media reports.
Rashid Malbari, a sharpshooter and aide of underworld fugitive Dawood Ibrahim, fled the country after availing bail from the court in 2014. The court had issued an arrest warrant against Malbari after he failed to appear before the court for the hearing. Following the issuance of the arrest warrant from the court, the Mangaluru City Police had issued lookout and red corner notices against Malbari.
It was rumoured that Malbari had fled to Bangladesh via West Bengal. The 4th District and Sessions Court had convicted Rashid Malbari under the Indian Arms Act case in 2013. There are many cases of murder and attempt to murder pending against Rashid Malbari in various courts in the country.
