Mangaluru: District in-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai, attacking the opposition BJP for defaming the Congress government at the state, said that despite K J George resigning from the post, the opposition seems to be spewing venom.
Addressing the media persons here at circuit house on Monday, July 25, Rai said that all of the pro-people work that the Congress has done is being pushed under the carpet by the BJP which is blowing DySP Ganapathi suicide case out of proportion.
“George has stepped down from the Ministerial post so as to ensure that a fair probe takes place. Despite this, the opposition continues to hurl allegations,” he said adding that several ministers in the former BJP government and several others in the present NDA ruling at the centre are facing criminal cases against them, but no one seems to be bothered about the same. Even in DySP Kallappa Handibhag case, a BJP MLA is said to be behind the death, but why no noise is being made around Handibhag case,” he questioned and added that while the Congress’ plea for CBI probe fell on deaf ears during the BJP rule, the Congress government has handed over as many as eight cases to the CBI.
Talking about harassment by politicians, Rai said that several top officers including IAS officer Vijayalakshmi Joshi, who headed Swach Bharat programme tendered resignation after being unable to cope up with the pressure from central government.
Youth congress president Mithun Rai, Former MLA’s Gopal Bhandary, Vijay Kumar Shetty and others were present.
