Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada Janata Dal (Secular) District President B Mohammed Kunhi has opined that there was no objection from anybody to construct Ram Mandir at Ayodhya and BJP was simply politicising the issue for votes.
Speaking to the reporters at the district JDS office in Bendoorwell on Saturday, December 15, Mohammed Kunhi said, “If Ram Mandir cannot be built in India, where else can it be? BJP came to power in our country promising to fulfill the dream of constructing Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. However, it has failed to do so. Though BJP succeeded in forming the government at the Centre and also Uttar Pradesh, why has it failed to construct Ram Mandir”, he questioned and added that BJP was using the issue of Ram Mandir only to retain power in the Centre and it had no genuine concern about it.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Kunhi questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi that if he could lay the foundation stone for a Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi, why doesn’t he take measures to construct Ram Mandir in Ayodhya? The members of all relgions would support the idea of constructing Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Though BJP claims that Muslims and Christians are opposing the construction of Ram Mandir, it is far from the truth”, he said.
He also opined that if both JDS and Congress faced the Lok Sabha election fielding a single candidate from Mangaluru, BJP would definitely lose. “There were many able leaders like Manjunath Bhandary, Ivan D’Souza, M B Sadashiv, Moideen Bava among others in Dakshina Kannda district. If we select a candidate from among these leaders with mutual understanding, defeating a BJP candidate would not be a big task. The pending works of Pumpwell flyover, Thokkottu flyover, pathetic condition of national highways are enough to reflect the works of MP Nalin Kumar Kateel”, he added.
Leaders Akshith Suvarna, Rameeza Banu, Aziz Kudroli, Sushil Noronha, Vasanth Poojary and Gopalakrishna Attavar were present.
