Rajasthan Grameen Mela inaugurated in city

Mangaluru: Here is an opportunity for handloom enthusiasts to view and purchase a wide variety of handloom products, handicrafts, jewellery and paintings as these products are being exhibited and sold at Hotel Woodlands from August 24 till September 8. It will be open to the public between 10 AM and 8 PM.

Over 50 stalls have been set up at the “Rajasthan Grameen Mela” which was inaugurated today by Kannada and Tulu film actor Pruthvi Ambar.

Addressing the gathering, Pruthwi Ambar asked the public to utilise this opportunity to see and purchase the unique handloom products. “As the ‘Rajasthan Grameen Mela’ has been organising exhibitions in our city for the past 15 years, they know the pulse of our people. We should support those who engage in producing handicrafts,” he said.

A variety of cotton saris, hand-embroidered bed-sheets, cushion covers, clothing materials and other products are on display at the exhibition. There is a separate section for handicrafts where a variety of products made of metal, wood and ceramic are being displayed. Jaipur bangles, Chennapattanam toys, precious stone jewellery and other products are an added attraction at the exhibition.

Woodlands Hotel proprietor Ramesh Bhat Yermal, who was the chief guest of the inaugural programme wished the organisers success for the exhibition.

Exhibition convener Mahaveer informed that 80 per cent of the products are from Rajasthan and that the remaining 20 per cent are from Kolkata, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Gujarat. The price of saris at the exhibition range from Rs 400 to Rs 1,800 and jewellery ranges from Rs 50 to Rs 84,000, he added.
