Mangaluru: After the BJP party’s landslide victory in the Dakshina Kannada district where they won 7 of the 8 seats, the Congress party’s losing candidates have decided to file an objection with the Election Commission (EC) against the electronic voting machines (EVMs).
With Ramanath Rai as their leader, the other Congress candidates have decided to approach the EC with a letter stating that they had suspicions about the EVMs as they found some “problems” with them at during the counting.
Expressing that the results were unexpected, Rai said that the Congress had done an immense amount of work and the people have seen this. He then accused the BJP of using IT raids to target their opponents. “I have never seen such tactics being used in all my years of being in politics. Such practices are harmful to democracy,” said Rai.
Rai was with Congress candidate from Mangaluru North Mohiuddin Bava and Congress candidate from Mangaluru South JR Lobo at the counting centre in Bondel when he stated that the Congress lost in the seven constituencies because of faulty EVMs.
