Prime accused in fake marks card racket arrested

Mangaluru: The City Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths arrested two prime accused in connection with the fake marks card racket on T C Road at Thokottu, on March 19.

The accused are Askan Sheik (25) and Asraruddin Sheik (26), both residents of Chemmbugudde, Thokottu.

On March 14, the police had arrested Godwin in connection with the case. But, Askan and Asraruddin were absconding. And police had confiscated the fake marks cards, laptop, three seals, a printer, printing papers and mobile phones from the accused.

It may be recalled that the Mangalore Institute of Technological Science Educational Institution was issuing fake marks cards to the youth. The institution has been in operation since 2016. The institution provided professional courses and issued fake certificates for prices ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 45,000 for those who went abroad. Fake marks cards pertaining to SSLC, PUC, Degree and Diploma courses were issued by the accused.

Second incident

Earlier, the police had arrested Askan Sheik in connection with a fake marks card racket from Pumpwell. Police had arrested him for preparing fake marks of various universities. He established the Mangaluru Institute of Technological Science (MITS) Educational Institution in 2016. He had been producing fake marks card since 2013. The accused has produced more than 150 fake marks card and distributed them to various people.
