Mangaluru: To commemorate the World Prematurity Day which was observed on November 17, the Department of Paediatrics with support from the Departments of ENT, Ophthalmology, Nursing and Physiotherapy organized series of programmes at Yenepoya Medical College Hospital on 14th of November. Mr.Yenepoya Abdullah Kunhi, Honourable Chancellor of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) inaugurated the Prematurity Integrated Clinic in the Paediatrics OPD and called for better utilization of such services.
The health education programme was inaugurated by Dr.M.S.Moosabba, Dean of Yenepoya Medical College. In his speech, he highlighted the significance of health care services for the integrated development of preterm babies. A pamphlet highlighting services of prematurity clinic and prematurity baby record was released by Dr.S.Padmanabha, Medical Superintendent of Yenepoya Medical College Hospital. Dr. Mithun and Dr.Shakib Shaffi, Dr.Anupama Shyam Sudhir, Dr.Nadini and Dr.Fouzia from the departments of Paediatrics, Ophthalmology, and ENT spoke on the various aspects of prematurity care.
Prizes were distributed to the winners of E-Poster competition on Prematurity health care conducted by the Yenepoya Nursing College. Dr.Sunita Saldanha, Hospital Operations Officer welcomed and Dr.Mohammed Guthigar, HOD of MSW proposed a vote of thanks. Dr.Anitha Prabhu, Professor of Paediatrics, Dr.Vijayalakshmi, HOD of ENT and Sr. Ilene Mathias CNO were present during the programme. Mr.Vijayananda Shetty, Marketing Executive, compeered the programme.
