Udupi: Pramod Madhwaraj, Congress candidate from Udupi constituency and MN Rajendra Kumar, SCDCC Bank Chairman, have been booked for violation of election code of conduct.
Udupi Deputy Commissioner MT Reju has informed that complaints had been received against both for violation of poll code of conduct during a Congress convention held on March 31.
The DC said they had promised a gold coin to self-help groups in villages where the Congress wins. He said the two have been booked under Section 123 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, and also IPC Section 171B after an investigation conducted by the Tahsildar.
The Deputy Commissioner further informed that a vernacular daily was also facing charges of poll code violation by publishing an advertisement for four days.
