Mangaluru: The postponement of the by-election in 15 constituencies has provided temporary oxygen for the BJP-led state government, but it is not enough for them to complete a full term,” said MLC Ivan D’Souza on Friday, September 27.
Addressing the reporters at the district Congress office, Ivan, however, said that he will welcome the Supreme Court’s decision on all the 17 disqualified MLAs. “The Supreme Court has not said anything about the speaker’s decision nor spoken about allowing the disqualified MLAs to contest in the by-election. However, the BJP claims that they have won just because the Supreme Court postponed the by-election. The disqualified MLAs were further disqualified by the postponement of the by-polls,” he said.
He then said that, while the Congress party is fully prepared to face the by-elections, the BJP has been waiting for it to be stopped. “Although the BJP is a national party, it has no clear decision about whom to field in the by-election,” he claimed.
