Mangaluru: “All political parties are working as agents for the corporates and they are not bothered about the farmers,” alleged Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene state president Badagalapura Nagendra on Friday, April 12.

Addressing the gathering during an interaction on ‘Problems of farmers and political party’s views’ he said, “The political parties have been discussing sensitive issues such as mandirs and masjids but such issues will not fetch any positive results for the poor farmers. Instead of discussing the problems concerning farmers and farmer suicides, the political parties are making personal accusations against each other.”

“When India got its independence, the population of the country was around 36 crores only. Now, the pupulation has increased to 130 crore. Though the government has taken some important measures to boost agricultural production, the farmers are not getting a sufficient price for their crops,” he said and asked the political parties to address the problems of the farmers.

‘Modi Aalvikeyalli Raitha’, a book authored by Yogendra Rao was released on the occasion by writer Suresh Bhat Bakrabail. Raitha Sangha state secretary Ravikirana Punacha also spoke about the need to concentrate on the problems of the farmers.

Honorary president of Karnataka Raitha Sangha Chamarasa Mali Patil, DK district president Krishnappa Salian, district general secretary Yadav Shetty among others were present.
