Police firing: DC Jagadeesh offers final chance to public to share evidence

Mangaluru: Udupi District Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh has asked the public with information and evidence pertaining to the police firing incident that occurred on December 19, 2019, to present it before him at the Mini Vidhana Soudha (Court Hall)  on February 6 between 11 am and 1 pm.

As Jagadeesh has been conducting the magisterial inquiry into the incident, he is giving one last opportunity for those who witnessed the incident to share information and evidence. In a press release, he informed that the people can appear before him on February 6 between 11 am and 1 pm and can share the information. He also informed that this would be the final chance to share information and evidence and thereafter, no evidence or statements in this connection will be entertained, the press release said.

It can be recalled that violence broke out during a protest against the CAA, leading the police to open fire at the protesters. Two persons, Nousheen Kudroli and Jaleel Kandak were killed in the police firing leading to massive outrage. As the state government ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident, Deputy Commissioner of the Udupi district, G Jagadeesh was appointed as the presiding officer for the same.
