Mangaluru: Well-known Tulu film actor Sadashiva Salian breathed his last in Mumbai on Sunday, July 8.
Sadashiva Salian, who hails from Tenka Yermal in Udupi, migrated to Mumbai at an early age. After graduating from Chinmaya College, Andheri, he joined Central Bank of India in Mumbai. He married Susheela and the couple has two children.
Though he was working in the banking industry, he developed a keen interest in directing plays. He has directed more than 500 Tulu, Hindi, and Marathi plays.
After his contact with Tulu cinema and drama actor K N Tailor Salian entered movies also. Salian had acted in KN Tailor’s Tulu movie ‘Bhagyavantedi’, ‘Badkere Budle’ directed by Ram Shetty, and ‘Dareda Seere’ and ‘Satya Olundu’ directed by Ravi N Kanchan. ‘Pettai Pili’ and ‘Onte Adjust Malpule’ were his own directorial films. However, due to health issues, Salian abstained from playing roles in movies.
Speaking to Newskarnataka Tulu film and theatre director Devdas Kapikad said,” Death of veteran actor Sadashiva Salian is an immense loss to the industry. Salian had quit his profession as a banker to pursue art. He had acted in many Kannada and Tulu movies. He had also acted in the movie ‘Satya Olundu I had written. He is memorable for his acting in the Tulu drama Bale Cha Parka. After he met an accident he could not act in movies and due health issues he had given up acting.”
