Mangaluru: Former minister and Congress leader U T Khader has advised Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa to win the confidence of the people by clarifying and spreading awareness about the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).

Addressing the media on Thursday, January 16, he said, “The whole country is in confusion regarding the implementation of the CAA. It is the duty of the Central Government to clarify the doubts of the people. At the state-level, all the Chief Ministers and home ministers must take the responsibility of clearing the doubts about the Act. In Karnataka, CM BSY should see to it that he wins the confidence of the people by clearing all the doubts that are haunting the people’s mind.”

“As the CAA has already come into force from January 10, the ASHA workers are being assigned to create awareness and inform the people about the Act. But the sad part is that the people have no clue what the CAA has in store for them. It is very essential that awareness is created right from the Gram Panchayat level. The Government must also take the responsibility for educating the media persons and employees of government institutions about the Act,” he added.
