Bantwal:Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt has suggested that a bypass road be constructed at Kalladka instead of going in for a highway expansion in the town as part of the Hassan-BC Road four-laning project.
Speaking to reporters on September 24, Tuesday morning after holding discussions with the public and office bearers of the Rashtriya Heddari Santrasthara Horata Samithi, the seer said going in for a NH expansion at Kalladka would greatly affect the town as shops and residences will have to be evacuated and hundreds would lose their livelihood and properties. The seer strongly felt that constructing a bypass road was the best solution to the problem.
Pledging his full support to the movement launched by the Horata Samithi, the seer also assured to hold talks with the Union Minister for Surface Transport as well as NH authorities.
Dr Prabhaker Bhat, Honorary President of the Horata Samithi narrated the problems which Kalladka and nearby places will have to face due to NH widening. He also stated that hundreds of houses and shops too will have to be bulldozed if the project was implemented.
To a question from the seer if there was any politics in the issue, Bhat said the committee had representatives from all parties and all communities and has been set up with the only objective of saving Kalladka town.
Padmanabha Kottari, former MLA, Dr Kamala Prabhaker Bhat, Dinesh Shenoy, President of the Horata Samithi, Sunder Kulal, GP President, Kunhi Ahmed, Stanleyslaus D’Souza, Shivaji Bhat, Monappa Devasya, Ramesh Kalladka, Donald D’Souza, Tirumaleshwara Bhat, Suresh Kalladka, Shivaram Holla, KH Hammabba, Yatin Kumar and others were present.
