Padyana Gopala Krishna (PAGO) award conferred on Prashanth Suvarna

Mangaluru: Journalist Prashanth S Suvarna of Vijayavani was presented with the Padyana Gopala Krishna (PAGO) award on March 22.

Senior Journalist Anitha Pinto handed the award to Prashanth.

The award has been instituted in memory of P Gopalakrishna by PaGo Memorial Trust. It is presented annually by the Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists’ Union (DKWJU) and Mangaluru Press Club. The award consists of cash incentive of Rs 10,001, a certificate and a memento.

Anitha Pinto, in her address, said that the media has an important role to play in the development of the society. Society needs a pro-social journalists’ working for the betterment of society. An ethical news report will show a right direction to society. There should be more stories for social change.

She also lauded Prashanth Suvarna for his good journalistic work.

Senior journalist Manohar Prasad reminisced about the time he worked with Padyana Gopala Krishna.

Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists’ Union President Jaganath Shetty Bala, Mangaluru Press Club President Ronald Anil Fernandes and others were present.
