Mangaluru: Once considered to be a powerful name in the BJP house, Shrikar Prabhu, former state executive member of the BJP was ousted for six years from the party for alleged anti-party activities in 2014. After living in oblivion for a while now, Prabhu has now decided to contest the upcoming polls as an independent candidate from Mangaluru South constituency.

Speaking to newskarnataka.com, Prabhu said that he will never abandon the ideology for which he worked relentlessly for 33 long years.

“I will face the elections as a follower of Prime Minister Modi, but of course san the party symbol. The poll symbol might be different, but I will go to people with the same RSS-BJP ideology,” he said adding that he is more determined than ever before to face the polls.

He says that he wishes to sincerely toil for the people of the constituency without discrimination.

Prabhu has had a very strong association with the RSS and in a way he may also know many of BJP’s inside secrets. But, will he make an impact on the BJP’s votes is something to watch out.

The BJP has not yet finalised its candidate for Mangalore south constituency and in all its likelihood the Congress is believed to have made up its mind to field sitting MLA JR Lobo.
