Mangaluru: MLA U T Khader has urged district administration to keep Wenlock Hospital open for poor people and start its OPD services immediately. The District Wenlock Hospital has been now declared as a dedicated COVID-19 hospital.

Addressing the reporters here on Wednesday, June 3 Khader said, “after Wenlock Hospital turned into Covid Hospital, the poor patients are being forced to opt for private hospitals. They are not in a position to spend huge amount for their treatment. Hence, Wenlock Hospital should be kept open for poor patients immediately,” he said.

Informing about the government hospital in Bengaluru which was also turned into Covid hospital after the outbreak of Covid-19, Khader said,” Bengaluru has more than 10 government hospitals. But, here in Mangaluru, we have only one district government hospital. As this hospital has been serving the people of over eight districts, government should immediately open it for the public, taking all precautionary measures and essential arrangements.”

Meanwhile, Khader urged the police department to immediately arrest the miscreants who put up banner naming Pumpwell flyover after Veer Savarkar.

“Bridges connect people and the name of a bridge too should do the same. It should unite the people. As miscreants have tried to divide the people by putting up such a banner, the individuals who put it up and the ones who printed it too must be arrested,” he said.
