One more tests positive for COVID-19 in DK; Total rises to seven

Mangaluru: Another COVID-19 positive case was reported from the Dakshina Kannada district on Friday, March 27.

With this, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the district has risen to seven.

District Health and Family Welfare Officer (DHO) Dr Ramachandra Bayari, in a press release, informed that the latest case a 21-year-old from the Karaya village of the Belthangady taluk, who arrived in Bengaluru from Dubai on March 21.

He is said to have travelled to his native village in a KSRTC bus. As he was suffering from a cough and fever, he was admitted to a government hospital in Puttur. His throat swabs were sent for testing on the same day.

His test results came back positive for COVID-19 on Friday. The young man’s entire family is now under observation.

Meanwhile, contact tracing of all those who accompanied him during his journey is underway, the DHO informed.

It can be recalled that earlier in the day, it was reported that a 10-month-old baby tested positive to the coronavirus.
