Mangaluru: On 29th June, in a news report, ‘MCC – made death traps adorn city roads‘, Newskarnataka had highlighted the sorry plight of road commuters in the city caused by the hazardous state of manholes on the concrete roads in the city. Newskarnataka noted, that in a number of places in the city, where concrete roads were laid, it was found that the concrete lid on the sewage manhole had sunk by a few inches, causing grave danger to the road user particularly two wheelers and more so to scooters whose ground clearance was minimum.
MCC jumps into action after Newskarnataka reported about faulty concrete lid of manhole
The news report received immediate response from Mayor, who promised to set right the concrete lids on the sewage manhole. Yesterday morning, true to his word workers deputed by City Corporation were seen on the job of replacing the concrete ring and the lid with a new one. Hope the city corporation continues to show the same urgency in setting right such lids which are sunken in many other areas, and avoid accidents due to it.
