Mangaluru: Police department has announced that hotels, restaurants, clubs, resorts and other organising New Year party for public should wind up the celebrations by 12:05 am. Another fifteen minutes would be given to all the organisers to disperse the crowd. This additional 15 minutes will not be extended.
Police Commissioner Dr P S Harsha informed that those who organise events should secure permission from Excise Department and submit the same to the local police station. Action will be taken against organisers who hold New Year events without prior permission.
While urging all to abide by the rules and warning that stern action will be initiated against those violating the guidelines, the Commissioner of Police said that special teams will be deployed in key places in the city to prevent untoward incidents from taking place.
“If chaos breaks out during the programme, the organisers will be held responsible. Safety measures like emergency treatment facilities, fire extinguisher systems among others while hosting programmes is a necessity, which the organisers have to make sure are all in place. The guidelines imposed by the police department should be followed and action will be taken if there is a violation in the guidelines. Strict action will also be taken against those who create nuisance on roads or in any public places,” he warned.
