Mangaluru: A total of 22 students of the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Mudipu, who were stranded at Uttar Pradesh due to the lockdown, were brought back to the city and quarantined on Saturday, May 9.
As per the migration policy of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, a total of 22 ninth standard students were sent to Aurangabad Navodaya School in Uttar Pradesh last year. They supposed to return on April 22 as they had completed their studies but were unable to do so due to the lockdown.
Since the lockdown was relaxed, the district administration allowed people to travel in and out of Dakshina Kannada. Six persons, including two staff members of the school, a physician and two parents travelled to Aurangabad in UP and returned with the school’s 22 students in a special bus.
As they came from outside the state, the district health department asked all the 22 students to undergo quarantine along with the six others, who accompanied them during their journey.
Their throat swabs were also sent for testing and the reports are expected to come either on Sunday or Monday.
