Mangaluru: After his victory in the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) Mayoral elections on March 8, the newly elected Mayor Bhaskar K Moily stated that the development of Mangaluru City would be of prominence to him.
Speaking to the media personnel, he said, “Taking all the 60 corporators into confidence, I will work towards the development of the city and it is my main focus” said the new Mayor.
Bhaskar K also stated that Mangluru City was affected by traffic woes and hence, he would work to set it right by widening the roads and building a parking complex in the city.
He also assured that during his tenure, he would work to collect proper taxes from the general public, as it is very important for development.
“I will face all challenges and work towards the development of the city”, he said.
A short profile of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor
Mayor Bhaskar K
Bhaskar K, from Kulshekar Ward no. 36, has been elected thrice as a corporator for MCC. He has completed his ITI. He was once elected as chairperson of the standing committee for Town Planning and Development. He is well-known for his religious work as he has been the trustee of Shree Ananthapadmanabha temple, Kudupu. He has also worked as State Congress and District Youth Congress Committee secretary. He was previously into transportation business.
Deputy Mayor K Mohammed
K Mohammed, is a corporator from Kunjathbail Ward no. 13, and has been elected twice as a corporator for MCC. He completed his BA after which he worked as a teacher in Noble English Medium School. He is also a trustee of Islamia Educational Trust (Regd.) Mangaluru. He is the spokesperson of the Surathkal Block Congress.
