Mangaluru: Condemning the remarks made on Prophet Mohammed by a private television channel anchor, the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Muslim Okkuta held a protest meet at the Nehru Maidan here on Friday, February 8.
Addressing the protestors, Okkuta President K Ashraf said, “TV anchor Ajith Hanumakkanavar has has dared to pass bad remarks about the Prophet. Though over 800 cases are registered against him for his communal remarks, he has not been punished. The government should take stringent action against those who make such remarks against Prophet”, he said.
“Though the police have registered FIR on Ajith, no action has been taken so far.W e are deeply hurt by the government due to this”, Ashraf lamented.
President of Jammath E Islam Hind Mohammed Kunjhi said, “Muslims love Prophet Mohammed more than their parents. None of the Muslim carries Prophet’s photo because Prophet Mohammed is in the hearts of Muslims as we follow and respect him”, he said
Muslim leader Hyder Parthipady welcomed the gathering, Siddique Talapady proposed a vote of thanks.
Khatib Jawwa Jumma Masjid Bolangadi Sayyed Yahya Tangal, Principal of Ikra Arabic School Mohammed Salim Nadvi, Principal of Al Islahi Arabic College Mohammed Ali Salafi, Okkuta State president Mohammed Shakib, Advocate Muzzaffar Ahmed among others were present.
