Mangaluru: Muslim brethren of Mangaluru offered special prayers on Wednesday morning for onset of monsoon in the region. Hundreds of faithful congregated to Mosque at Nehru Maidan at about 7 am.
The coastal belt is facing acute water shortage. Taking note of this, the Muslim brethren held a special prayer during the holy month of Ramzan.
Shiekh Sakib Salim Umri, the priest who led the prayers said that if Almighty Allah wishes, the drought situation can be reversed in mere seconds. “Excess rain and deficit rains, both will pose problems. We need favourable rains,” he said.
Muslim women were also seen taking part in the prayers. MLA Vedavyas Kamath too took part in the prayers along with some Muslim leaders and dignitaries.
