Mangaluru: Much-awaited Konkani movie ‘Zanvoy No 1’ premiered at Bharath Big Cinemas on April 13 to a house-full audience comprising of movie buffs and well-wishers. For the uninitiated Zanvoy means Son-in-law in Konkani.
The movie has been produced under Sangathi Creations banner, a maiden venture owned by Walter D’Souza, Cyril Castelino and Leo Fernandes, directed by Konkani’s top director Harry Fernandes Barkur. The premiere show was inaugurated formally by Bishop of Mangaluru Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza by lighting the lamp. Tulu-Konkani movie director Richard Castelino, Ex-President of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Roy Castelino, Mandd Sobhann President Louis J Pinto, Gurkar Eric Ozario, famous Bollywood heroine and the lead actress in the movie Varsha Usgaonkar, Appe Teacher Tulu movie Director Kishore Moodabidri, Rachana President Stany Alvares, Tulu Konkani actor Deepak Paladka and the star cast were present.
In his inaugural address, the Bishop thanked the Sangathi Creations trio for producing a Konkani movie and helping to keep Konkani language alive. He also appreciated the teams work in releasing this movie at 12 theaters across India at a time, which is itself a first for this industry. Zanvoy is very common in a family, but when we speak of Zanvoy No1 then it surely has to have something extra in it and I am sure the movie will give something extra to the audience and also become No 1 movie in Konkani.
Speaking about the kind gesture of the movie team to donate food and new clothes to the Diocese’s recently started food and cloth bank “Akshaya Dhama”, the Bishop said that the movie team has a heart of giving and hence they have already received God’s blessings. “I am sure the Konkani movie lovers also will bless you,” he said while wishing all success to the team.
Tulu-Konkani Movie Director Richard Castelino, Ex-President of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Roy Castelino, Mandd Sobhann Gurkar Eric Ozario and Varsha Usgaonkar also spoke during the occasion and requested the Konkani speaking community to support the movie.

About Zanvoy No 1
Sangati Creations’ maiden venture, a mega Konkani movie “Zanvoi No 1”, written and directed by well-known Bollywood ace director Harry Fernandes Barkur, is all set to release first in Mangaluru followed by a worldwide release soon.
Director Harry Fernandes Barkur’s previous hits in Hindi and Bhojpuri ventures as well as Konkani hit films “Noshibacho Khell” and “Sophiya”, have recorded a number of houseful shows in India and worldwide, and have been liked by massive crowds.
Famous Bollywood heroine Varsha Usgaonkar carries the entire film, with her charming and stunning acting skills in a new role. This project is designed by Mumbai’s well-known theatre and social activists Cyril Castelino, Leo Fernandes and Walter D’Souza.
The star cast includes Kevin D’Mello, the male lead of the movie from Goa, who has worked in various Goan movies, international model Josita Anola Rodrigues, “Miss South Asia Teen” and finalist of “World Teen Super Model of South Asia”, as the female lead, supporting role by “Comedy King of Goa” Prince Jacob, Stany Alvares, Ron’s London, Sujatha Andrade, Ranjitha Lewis, Lyshon Fernandes and well-known star actor of Dubai Deepak Paladka, who has acted in 6 movies in all three languages of Karnataka viz.Tulu, Konkani and Kannada movies. Deepak Paladka, unlike in previous movies will be seen in a totally different lead role this time around.
Cameraman Shafeeque Shaik has captured the entire movie beautifully. The editing is being done by Abhishek Mhaskar, action by Sunil Rodrigues and the scintillating music has been composed by the trio Eric Ozario, Jerry Bondel and Gunwant Sen. The lyrics have been written by Jerry Bondel, Llyod Rego and Harry Fernandes. The choreographer, Naveen Shetty of Aryan’s, has done his job brilliantly while the whole production team was carefully managed by production controller Karel Prem D’Souza.
A super combination package of thriller, action, comedy, romance and high voltage drama, “Zanvoy No.1” is predicted to create a new landmark in the Konkani Movie Industry.
