Mangaluru: The debate on Nathuram Godse is taking new turns and on Friday, May 17, Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel deleted his tweet supporting Godse, the assassinator of Mahatma Gandhi.

Comparing Godse with former PM Rajiv Gandhi, Kateel, a BJP leader and two-time Parliamentarian tweeted on Thursday, “Godse killed one, Kasab killed 72, and Rajiv Gandhi killed 17,000. You judge who is crueler in this??”

However, his tweet stands deleted at the moment.

All started with actor-turned-politician Kamal Hasan recently calling Nathuram Godse as Independent India’s first terrorist.

Following this couple of BJP leaders came in support of Godse. While BJP’s Bhopal pick Pragya Thakur glorified Godse and called him a patriot, Kateel drew a comparison between Godse and Rajiv Gandhi.

After massive condemnation, the Sadhvi apologised late on Thursday. BJP MP Ananth Kumar Hegade too has made a statement supporting Godse.

However, BJP National Chief Amit Shah has distanced himself from the statements made by his partymen and said that he had nothing to do with their opinion. There are all possibilities of the party initiating disciplinary action against the three leaders.
