Mangaluru: The old Kuloor bridge, which was repaired using micro-contrast technology, was inaugurated on Wednesday, May 20.
Inaugurating the bridge, MP and state BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel informed that measures will be taken to construct a new bridge soon, now that the old bridge has been repaired. “It was impossible to take up the construction work of a new bridge without repairing the old one. As the repair work has been completed now, the construction work of the new bridge can be done,” he said.
Meanwhile, he informed that the construction of the bridge at Gurpur is almost completed. “However, the work on the connecting road is still pending. Due to the coronavirus issue, the work has been delayed,” he said.
Responding to a query regarding the allegations of substandard work of the Pumpwell flyover, Nalin asked the public not to be scared. “As the experts have already examined the construction work and approved the flyover for public use, there is no need to worry,” he added.
Mangaluru North MLA Dr Y Bharath Shetty, Nithin Kumar, Thilakraj Krishnapura and others were present.
