Mangaluru: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel visited district Wenlock Hospital on Tuesday and inspected the facilities available at the hospital to tackle the COVID-19 challenge.
The MP visited the hospital in wake of several rumours and fake messages being circulated on the social networking platform about the inability of the hospital management to handle the cases.
It may be recalled that on Monday a video of a youth lying on a hospital bed, struggling to catch breathe went viral.
The video stated that the incident happened in Wenlock Hospital. Though it was later clarified by the authorities that it was a fake video, such messages unleash fear among the general public.
Close on the heels of this, Police Commissioner Dr Harsha warned people against spreading rumours.
On Tuesday morning, MP Kateel visited the hospital and inspected the hospital along with Deputy Commissioner, District Health Officer and Superintendent of Wenlock Hospital.
DC Sindhu Rupesh informed the MP that a separate block has been arranged to handle the Coronavirus cases.
She said that only one person has been tested positive so far and he has been kept under observation.
The MP has requested people not to believe any rumours and fake news circulated on social networking sites.
He called upon people to strictly follow social distancing and keep themselves safe.
