Mangaluru: A delegation headed by Members of Parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel and Shobha Karandlaje met union ministers Nirmala Seetharaman, Peeyush Goel, V Muralidharan, Prahlad Joshi and D V Sadananda Gowda in New Delhi recently and urged them ban the import of arecanut and pepper from abroad.
Though the production cost of arecanut and pepper is very high, the price for both crops is very less. It is said that a huge quantity of both arecanut and pepper is being imported from the other countries which is the reason behind less price for both the crops grown by farmers here.
