Mangaluru: Two youth succumbed to a road accident that occurred at Honnakatte near Suratkal on Monday, November 12.
The deceased have been identified as Akshay (24), a resident of Kuttar, Subhash Nagar and pedestrian Narayana Kulal (27) of Honnakatte. Sources from Mangaluru North traffic police station informed that Akshay was riding his motorcycle from Suratkal to Mangaluru on Monday morning. When he reached near Honnakatte, pedestrian Narayan Kulal was crossing the road. Though Akshay tried to prevent his motorcycle from hitting pedestrian, he did not succeed. As a result, both Akshay and pedestrian Narayan were thrown to the road. Sustaining serious head injuries Narayan died on the spot. Though an attempt was made to shift a seriously injured Akshay to a nearby hospital, he did not respond to the treatment, sources said.
A case has been registered at Mangaluru North traffic police station in this regard.
