Mangaluru: The Karnataka Samajika Samskritika Abhivriddi Prathistana, in association with District Legal Service Authority, University College Mangalore NSS, Human Rights, Humanities and Media Club, organized a legal awareness programme- ‘Teenage, Drug Addiction and the Law’ at the college on Monday.
In his inaugural address, Principal District and Session Judge Kadloor Sathyanarayanacharya opined that criminal activities are on high due to the collapse of human values. The law, committees are not solutions for this, but everyone should have moral sense against the wrongdoings. Presiding over the function, Principal of the college Dr. Uday Kumar M A opined that drug addiction which blurs our knowledge and common sense is really dangerous.
Senior Advocate Udayananda A said that even students don’t get any pardon if they involve in drug peddling. The drug racket is strong and deep-rooted. One should be alert, positive and human values to keep it away. He interacted with students and unveiled the darker side of drug addiction.
Senior Civil Judge and Member Secretary A G Gangadhar, NSCDF President Gangadhar Gandhi, coordinators of various associations- Dr. Latha A Pandith, Dr. Shani K R, Dr. Kumaraswami, NSS Officers Dr. Gayathri N, Dr. Suresh, KSSAP President Raani Pushpalatha Devi were also present. Mallika Ajith Shetty was the master of ceremony.
