Mangaluru: Two videos of a man being brutally beaten up by a mob on suspicion that he is a homosexual has gone viral on social media. Based on the video clippings, police have registered a suo moto case.
The victim has been identified as Lokesh, a Daiva Patri, a man in the service of demi gods. Both videos have gone viral. In the first 1 minute 11 seconds video, people are seen questioning Lokesh. In another four-minute video, people are dragging him and trying to remove his shirt and snip his long hair. The video also shows a woman who intervenes and tries to stop the assault against Lokesh. However, the enraged mob ignores her and attacks him up severely.
Attempts were also made to tonsure his head with a razor. Later, someone brought a small sickle and cut his long hair.
Considering the incident very seriously, Commissioner of Police Sandeep Patil informed that nobody should take law into their hands and that a suo moto case has been registered at the Barke police station.
