Mangaluru: With engineer and MBA graduate Adithya Rao from Manipal surrendering before Bengaluru police claiming that he had planted a bomb in the Mangaluru International Airport (MIA), Mangaluru police will be reaching Bengaluru on Wednesday to take custody of the accused.

Mangaluru Commissioner of Police Dr. P S Harsha tweeted that a special investigation team from the coastal city would reach Bengaluru for taking Rao’s custody and take him to Mangalore for investigation.

“The investigation team will fly to Bengaluru in the afternoon to take Rao into our custody and bring him to Mangaluru for interrogation and investigation,” Harsha tweeted.

It can be recalled that IED was discovered from the Mangaluru International airport premises on Monday unleashing fear in the coastal belt. Security levels were beefed up in all international airports in the country. Hours after the incident, Mangaluru police released an image of a suspected person and an autorickshaw in which the man reached. Besides that, Mangaluru police had formed three teams to nab the accused also.

A team of National Security Guard (NSG) also came to MIA and started an investigation on Tuesday. However, on Wednesday, Rao surrendered before Bengaluru police.
