Mangaluru: Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath distributed over 1500 grocery kits for autorickshaw drivers, photographers, weavers, and the staff of Wenlock Hospital on Monday, June 15.
After distributing grocery items, Kamath said that it was the responsibility of government and elected representatives to respond to the grievances of the public. "It was inevitable for the government to declare lockdown to check the spread of COVID-19. During the period of lockdown, many people including autorickshaw drivers, photographers, tailors among others remained jobless. Considering the financial condition of such people, grocery kits were disbursed today," he said.
Meanwhile, Kamath urged the public to cooperate with the government in handling COVID-19. "As precautionary measures like maintaining social distance, wearing masks among others are the need of the hour now, people should follow such instructions issued by the government," he added.
Mangaluru City Corporation Health Standing Committee president Poornima and other BJP leaders like Vijay Kumar Shetty, J Surendra, Ramesh Kandettu, Bhaskarchandra Shetty among others were present.
