Mangaluru: Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath convened a meeting with online food delivery companies like Zomato, Swiggy, Uber Eats etc. recently, to arrange for essential commodities for the public in the case of an emergency.
After holding a meeting with the representatives, Kamath said that even though the prohibitory orders are in place, the district administration has allowed people to go out and purchase essential commodities between 6 am and 12 pm. “However, if the district administration strictly enforces the curfew on the district, then the people will not be able to leave their homes. In such cases, we will need food delivery companies and agencies to procure essential commodities. I convened the meeting for this purpose,” he said.
Safety measures to be taken by food delivery executives were also discussed during the meeting. “They were given some instructions in this regard, ” he added.
