Mangaluru: Amid the shortage of medicines for Black fungus, the constant efforts of Mangaluru South MLA Dr. Bharat Shetty helped Mangaluru to get Amphotericin.

Dr. Krishnamurthy Bonataya, former president of the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India (AOMSI), and Dr. Badri imported Amphotericin from the United Kingdom and handed it over to Dr. Y Bharat Shetty, at AJ Hospital here on Tuesday.

Speaking to News Karnataka MLA said, “A patient from my constituency was infected with black fungus and so I spoke to some of my contacts in Bengaluru especially the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India (AOMSI) who were also trying to get the medicines for their patient. We managed to secure the medicines from the UK which were couriered to us. The government helped to wave off the courier charges and the customs formalities which helped to bring the medicines here at a faster pace.”

AOMSI President Dr. Manjunatha Rai and former President Dr. Mustafa Khadar were also present.
