Mangaluru: MLA Dr. Bharath Shetty inaugurated 10 newly constructed hand washing units at the APMC yard in Baikampady on Tuesday, May 5.
MLA Umanath Kotian was the chief guest on the occasion. APMC President Praveen Kumar was the guest of honour.
Inaugurating the facility, MLA Dr Shetty lauded Rotary Mangalore Central’s community service project.
MLA Kotian also appreciated the Rotary Club’s efforts which will be beneficial to the traders and customers at the yard on a daily basis. It is also a small step in the fight against the novel coronavirus.
Speaking on the occasion, former Rotary District Governor Rtn. Dr. Devadas Rai revealed that the 10 hand washing units comprise liquid soap water, supported by a 2000-ltr Syntex overhead tank for uninterrupted water supply. The project was completed at a cost of approximately Rs 50,000.
Secretary Rtn. K.M. Hegde coordinated the programme and former Club president Rtn. Rajgopal Rai proposed a vote of thanks.
Former Club president Rtn. Dr. Nandakishore Rao, Rtn. Santhosh Shet, Rtn. Ravi Jaalan, Rtn. Manjunath Revankar, and president-elect Rtn. Prakash Chandra were present.
