Puttur: A woman was seriously injured after miscreants attempted to kill family members, using gelatin sticks at Polya in Kabaka, on October 15, Monday late night.
The woman who was injured in the incident has been identified as Shalini. Sources from Puttur Police Station informed that the incident occurred at a house, owned by Narayana Prasad at around 2 am. Narayana Prasad and his wife Shalini came out of their house when they heard some sound outside. Meanwhile, a gelatin stick was blown by some miscreants, leaving Shalini with serious leg injuries. She was later shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru where she is recuperating. Though the miscreants had kept three gelatin sticks, only one exploded and the remaining two were defused later, sources informed.
After the preliminary investigation, police suspect the handiwork of one Babu who was working at the same house as a daily wager three months ago. As he was a drunkard, Narayan Prasad had suspended him from work, which is suspected to be the reason. The bomb defusing squad visited the spot and inspected. ASP Sajith, DySP Srinivas, Puttur Inspector Thimmappa Naik among others visited the spot.
Puttur Town Police have registered a case in this regard and are investigating.
