Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary visited spots of Someshwara and Uchil that are plagued by sea-erosion, on Sunday and said that retaining wall will be build immediately in the most affected areas.
After visiting the areas, the Minister said that he has already met Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and received approval from him to start working in this regard.
“We have over 320 km of coastline between Ullal and Karwar. The work on dumping of rocks to prevent sea erosion will be start today itself and the work will be continued on priority basis,” Kota added.
Leaders like Santhosh Kumar Rai Boliar, Sathish Kumpala, Chandrahas Pandithhouse, Raveendra Shetty Ulidottu, Someshwar Town Municipality Commissioner Vani Alva among others were present during his visit.
It may be noted that every rainy season, the said two area remain battered and torn due to sea-erosion, leaving hundreds of families in dire straits.
