Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, on Tuesday, June 2, visited the sea-eroded areas in Ullal, Someshwar, Uchilla, Battappady, Mogaveerapatna, Kaiko, Hilarinagar and heard the grievances of the public.
After the visit, Kota informed that a meeting will be convened with the Deputy Commissioner and officials of the port department and ADB, in order to undertake essential works like erection of a retaining wall etc. to prevent further sea erosion.
“As fishermen and other families involved in fishing activities are badly affected by sea erosion, erecting of retaining walls is the need of the hour. Some essential works have been undertaken at the cost of Rs 230 crores in the areas hit by sea erosion,” he said.
Zilla Panchayat former vice president Sathish Kumpala and other leaders like Santhosh Kumar Rai Boliar, Chandrahas Pandithouse, Hemanth Shetty, Chandrasekhar Uchil, Raveendra Shetty Ulidottu and others were present.
